Szklarska Poręba is crossed by excellent bicycle routes with a total length of 450 km, which are located in the close vicinity of the Giant Mountains and Jizera Mountains.
The town offers bicycle trails for advanced cyclists, which guarantee picturesque landscapes breathtaking at heights as high as 1150 m. Szklarska Poręba and its surroundings are also a paradise for cross-country skiers, who most often choose Jakuszyce as the place for their training.
Jeleniogórska Kotlina is often called the bicycle capital of Poland, and if we check the number of diverse bicycle routes it is hard not to agree.
The city of Jelenia Góra, as the focal point of the basin, gives you the opportunity to choose the direction and mountains you want to go. We should also not forget the number of cyclical cycling events that take place in the area and among the most important are:
Distances to the routes, depending on the choice of location and start, are just a few kilometers to a maximum of 30 kilometers, so there is plenty to choose from:
Interferie Sport Hotel Bornit Szklarska Poręba - sport and activity are both work and pleasure for us!
We have been hosting sports groups at our hotel for 25 years; triathlon, cycling, running, individual customer for whom activity in life is very important. For us people who are active in sports ourselves, we know how important sports facilities, places to store sports equipment, proper diet for athletes are.
These all-important aspects are adapted to individual needs, which is why we are so often chosen by professionals as well as amateur associations and clubs. During this long period we had the opportunity to host such people as Maja Włoszczowska with her MTB cycling team, Justyna Kowalczyk with her cross-country skiers, the Polish canoeists team, ice skating, Olympic cross-country skier Henryk Szost, triathlon athlete Agnieszka Jerzyk.... We hope you will also enjoy your time here with us.
The Olbrzymy Bicycle Range includes routes located in three municipalities: Jelenia Góra, Piechowice and Podgórzyn. The range is MTB paths, or paths designed for mountain bikers, to ride mountain bikes. The Giants Bike Range is located in quite high mountains - you are unlikely to find a paved boardwalk or a completely flat path by the river. Even on the blue routes there are more difficult elements that a less advanced rider will have to bypass. There are also climbs on the blue routes: they may require some physical fitness. It is, of course, mandatory to ride with a helmet, and it is also a good idea to wear pads.
In total, more than 70 kilometers of trails are available to cycling enthusiasts. The names of the routes are the names of Slavic gods and demons: Perun, Utopiec, Doppler, Bane, Borowy, Poświst, Skarbek, Licho, Błotnik, Rokitnik, Skrzat, Jaga, Leszy, Czart.
Piechowice loop (western part) - route between Michalowice, Piechowice and Jagniątkow (length 19.5 km): Rokitnik - 5.1 km, Leszy - 2.1 km, Skarbek - 2.4 km, Zmora - 2.3 km, Doppler - 7.6 km
Przesieka loop (eastern part) - route between Przesieka, Zachełmie and Borowice (route length - 23.5 km): Błotnik - 3.8 km, Poświt - 8.9 km, Czart - 0.9 km, Utopiec - 1.4 km, Skrzat - 6.2 km, Licho - 2.2 km
Trail and gravel loops - routes between the two main loops, aimed at cyclists "still" more recreational (length 18.5 km): Perun - 9.4 km, Borowy - 6.8 km, Jaga - 2.3 km
Singiel Track Szklarska Poreba
Singiel Track Szklarska Poreba fraction of the routes that are part of the cycling routes in the Jizera Mountains and was marked with the number 14.
Fragments of this single are some of the few singles in the Jeleniogórska Kotlina that you can go to even with a 6-year-old. Yes, driving the entire 22 km requires fitness, because the elevation is 460 m, and technique, because the descent from Wysoki Kamień is already technically more difficult, but many sections can be easily driven with children.
It is also important to emphasize that the single track is wide and very well shaped and hardened so that even in heavy rainfall the bike's grip is very good. The views and landscape of the entire single make it really worth coming here.
The total length is 21.8 kilometers, of which 14 kilometers leads along a specially adapted single-track route, consisting of 11 sections and leads through the Jizera Mountains.
Szklarska Poręba Górna railroad station - to this point is only 1.5 km directly from Interferie Sport Hotel Bornit from where you can go by bike even with children.
szklarska Poreba Jakuszyce railroad stop
STANISŁAW quartz mine. At each access point there is a board with a map and regulations, a stationary pump with a set of bicycle tools.
Interestingly, part of the route (access to Jakuszyce or exit from Jakuszyce) can be overcome by train.
Jakuszyca Glade in the Jizera Mountains - a skiing paradise but also an ideal place for cycling recreation
Jakuszyce, as a district of Szklarska Poręba, has been famous for many years, especially in winter for people who do cross-country skiing. It is here that the World Cup in cross-country skiing was held and here that one of the largest cross-country skiing events in Europe, the Bieg Piastów, is held every year.
Jakuszyce also has something that is not found in many mountains, namely very little undulating terrain. This means that after arriving by bicycle, car, train at Polana Jakuszycka, we can do 30 km and have only 200 m of elevation gain in our legs. For those who are new to biking, this is an ideal place to get acquainted with mountain biking trails, but without having much technical skill.
Most of the bicycle routes in the "Bicycle Land" because that's how the region is called lead along forest roads (mostly gravel roads) and rocky mountain paths, so covering them won't be difficult, but it's worth having a mountain or trekking bike.
The total length of the routes is changing all the time, but their number is already more than 450 kilometers.
Bicycle routes in the Jizera Mountains and the Giant Mountains in the area of Szklarska Poręba have special signage; a white background in a black border that is the silhouette of the cyclist, the route number and directional arrows. The signs are painted on trees, stones, walls or plaques.
Remember, too, that your safety depends on your skills, fitness, supply of water, something to eat, but also on the technical condition of the bike. In the mountains, the bicycle must be 100% functional, and often the kind of bike we ride on dirt roads in the lowlands does not pass the test even in Jakuszyce and the Jizera Mountains.
Single Track under Smrek/ Świeradów-Zdrój this is where the beginning of ...
Already in 2011 the IMBA organization creates a ranking of the best places to practice mountain biking, and in 7th place are the bike paths in Świeradów-Zdrój and the area around NovyMesta in the Czech Republic. From there, large-scale construction of new paths across the country began. Anyone who enjoys MTB biking even a little bit has been here at least once to see how these "famous paths" look.
From Interferie Sport Hotel Bornit in Szklarska Poręba to the start of the bike paths near the gondola railroad to Stóg Izerski is about 20 km and the time to cover the route is about 20 minutes.
The trails below Smrek are a unique project in Central Europe. It is a thoughtfully designed network of forest paths for cyclists, which are built and maintained according to strict rules with maximum respect for the surrounding nature. The paths are designed for very dynamic driving, and yet they are safe.
The entire trail network was built in three phases and now offers more than 88 kilometers of fun-filled riding. On the Polish side we have such routes as Czerniawska Kopa 15,3 km, Zajêcznik 14,75 km, while on the Czech side we have 11 routes with a total length of about 60 km.
The trails are unidirectional and distinguished by color according to difficulty, as are the pistes. Cyclists, depending on their abilities, can choose a route of varying lengths.
There is something for everyone, whether a complete beginner or an experienced cyclist. The project is a joint effort of the municipalities of Świeradów-Zdrój, NovéMěsto under Smrek, LázněLibverda, Frýdlant, as well as the Świeradów-Zdrój Forest District and the State Forests of the Czech Republic, and has been co-financed by funds from the European Union.
Single Track under Smreek deserves a very big plus because of the extensive catering infrastructure along the singles route itself, where, in addition to taking advantage of the gastronomy, you can repair minor defects, wash your bike or wait for transportation to the starting point.
